Château Branaire-Ducru 2023
Bordeaux Primeur | 4th Cru Classé, Saint-Julien AC
Branaire-Ducru's style is first and foremost a house signature. Fruit, freshness, elegance, 3 key components which form the hard core, the guiding framework imprinted in the Château's wines. Upon purchasing the property, Patrick Maroteaux expressed the wish to produce wines representative of the Saint-Julien appellation with a unique imprint, the kind that allows great wines to be identified.

96 100James SucklingThis has so much lead pencil, stone and blackcurrant character, as well as blackberry. It’s medium-bodied with a solid core of fruit and a polished finish. Very classy and structured.

96 100Yves Beck61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5.5% Cabernet Franc, 3.5% Petit Verdot Branaire Ducru has always embodied finesse, making it its leitmotiv, its guiding principle. However, this does not prevent it from positioning itself with clarity and serenity. The bouquet reveals inviting notes of liquorice and eucalyptus, led by notes of blackcurrant. On the palate, the wine is dense right from the start. It unfolds harmoniously on the palate, with velvety tannins in harmony with the crispness of the acidity. A subtle, harmonious and sapid wine! 2029-2058

95 100Alexandre MaLight as a feather, nimble as a dragonfly, the 2023 vintage of Château Branaire-Ducru captivates with its crisp acidity and refreshing fruitiness, prompting me to tiptoe with sheer delight. If given wings, I could soar through the air like a swallow, propelled by the invigorating gusts. The purebred essence of Château Branaire-Ducru reveals itself from the moment it touches the palate, with cherries and blueberries accompanied by the fragrances of violets and irises, exuding natural tenderness and effortless freshness. On the finish, it carries a rare saltiness, each sip allowing you to experience the pure, aristocratic essence of Bordeaux.

95 100Jean-Marc QuarinThis is the revelation of the Médoc vintage. The new winery, inaugurated this month, but which will be operational in 2022, seems even more effective in a year where the refinement of the selection contributes to the success. Intense, beautiful crimson colour. Very aromatic nose, fine, fruity and subtle. Delicate to the attack, delicious in the middle, with a fine touch and a texture that becomes thicker by the second, the wine rises and rises aromatically towards a juicy, complex and even profound finish. Perfect balance. An unbeatable result. Blend: 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5.5% Cabernet Franc, 3.5% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 13°1 - pH: 3.65. Yield: 53 hl/ha.
A beautiful dark and intense red.
Fine and fresh, with scents of raspberry and cherry, followed by floral notes and a spicy touch.
Delicate entry, fruity, fresh and linear in the mid-palate, with tannins present, but nuanced, tasty, long, very aromatic finish.
Cold meats, game terrine, royal couscous, red meat in sauce or roasted in the oven, grilled poultry, game, semi-soft cheese.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C
The Branaire-Ducru vineyard is made up of 15 micro-terroirs which extend over 60 ha to the south of the appellation. The vines, aged 35 years on average, are planted on Quaternary gravel-siliceous alluvium soils. Merlot flourishes on beds of clay.
Manual harvest, sorting of the grapes as soon as they arrive at the cellar, vinification separated by plot and grape variety in temperature-regulated stainless steel vats, slow maceration for 21 days. Aging for 18 months in oak barrels (60% new barrels).
