Berthier Vineyards

At the Berthier family, the love of the vine has been passed down for five generations. Dynamic, the two brothers currently at the helm have expanded the estate and continued the family project while respecting the land and the different terroirs. The vines have been certified organic since 2022, and the wines are produced with as little intervention as possible, for expressive and vibrant vintages.

Transmission of a passion

Transmission of a passion

The fifth generation of Berthier, brothers Florian and Clément, took over in 2012 and thus perpetuate the family history. The two men complement each other in personality and tasks to manage the estate. Florian is outside, in the vines, attentive to their evolution and the challenges that arise. Clément, for his part, reveals each terroir during the winemaking. He also takes care of marketing.

Certified convictions

The sensitivity for nature, transmitted from generation to generation, has taken on a new dimension with Florian and Clément. This approach, embedded in their work, resulted in organic certification in 2022. The Berthiers also apply this deep respect for their vines in the cellar, where the philosophy is to intervene as little as possible, in order to allow the potential and identity of each terroir to be expressed as much as possible.

The estate covers more than thirty hectares, for around fifteen vintages. Although the Berthier brothers own vines in Pouilly-Fumé and Sancerre, the majority are in the Coteaux du Giennois appellation. This lesser-known AOC, made official in 1998, is located along the Loire, between the town of Gien and Sancerre. The Coteaux du Giennois gives pride of place to Sauvignon Blanc, like the illustrious neighbouring appellations.
