Château de Vinzel

The Château de Vinzel estate is a jewel that shines in the heart of La Côte. Its 8.5 hectare vineyard extends around period buildings. It benefits from a gentle slope, facing south, with a high planting density and limited yields. Centuries of wine tradition

A wine property whose first foundations date back to 1629, Château de Vinzel once served as the pied-à-terre of a Bernese lord. He came there to monitor his harvests and, above all, to collect his royalties!
Several centuries and many owners later, in independent Vaudois lands, a modernization of the estate is necessary. Château de Vinzel therefore called on external partners in the 1930s.
One of them, Arnold Schenk, finally became the sole owner a few years later, in 1936. And it is the Obrist house which has exclusively sold the wines of Château de Vinzel since the 1960s.

A remarkable terroir

A remarkable terroir

The Château and its vineyard, at an altitude of between 400 and 550 meters, extend over more than 8 hectares. The vines, planted in high density, produce little, but fruit of exceptional quality.
They benefit from an excellent exposure, sloping, facing south, with a view of the lake. The nature of the soil is clayey and gravelly, well draining, which guarantees good maturity for the grapes.
This choice terroir is enhanced by the expert hands of Fabien Monachon, chef-winemaker. Since 2018, he represents the fourth generation to work the lands of Château de Vinzel with know-how and passion.

Expressive wines

Expressive wines

Chasselas reigns supreme at Château de Vinzel! It produces an essential Grand Cru, with a very 'NRF' label, as well as a rare Premier Grand Cru. Deep wines, atypical for La Côte, which evolve with grace.
In 2006, Château de Vinzel acted as a pioneer, dedicating a plot to Merlot, a rather exotic grape variety for the region at the time. This Grand Cru, aged in wood, produces an eloquent wine that will keep well.
The wines come to life in the vaulted cellars of the Château, in steel vats and tuns for the whites, and in barrels for the red. They blossom slowly and thus express all the facets of their terroir.

Château de Vinzel is a wine gem nestled in the heart of La Côte. Its 8.5 hectares of gently sloping south-facing vineyard are worked with respect for the environment. Planted in high density on a clay-gravelly terroir, the vines offer limited yields of exceptional quality.
Since its foundations in 1629, Château de Vinzel has carried the legacy of a long wine-growing history. Today, it stands out for its exclusive wines, Chasselas, including a rare Premier Grand Cru, and Merlot. The estate's vaulted cellars allow the wines to mature slowly, expressing all the richness of their terroir.
