From Vétroz to Stellenbosch

Behind The Pledge is Swiss Bernard Fontannaz. Hailing from a winemaking family in Vétroz, Valais, he discovered South Africa and its wines in 1993 during a simple trip. Convinced, he decided to move there!

Bernard Fontannaz founded Origin Wine in 2002 in Stellenbosch, the country's most famous wine region. His company offers its services in all aspects of wine, from production to logistics and strategy.

The company grew and went global. Bernard then created the Origin Vineyards division to enhance his own vineyards in South Africa, Argentina, and Valais, where he took over the family estate in 2004.

Within this division, The Pledge range is committed to communicating typically South African expressions through a precise selection of plots with maritime or high-altitude influences, followed by tailored aging.

If you can dream it, you can do it

True to his motto, "If you can dream it, you can do it," borrowed from Walt Disney, Bernard Fontannaz enjoys launching new ideas. What matters to him is making wine accessible and affordable.

For example, he dares to put wine in beer bottles or cans to reach new audiences. Ultimately, all that matters is the quality of the content, on which Bernard Fontannaz does not compromise.
