Chardonne Castle

Château de Chardonne comprises 1.7 ha of vines, acquired by Emile Obrist in 1933. This terraced vineyard is ideally located facing Lake Geneva. It is planted exclusively with Chasselas and its recognized quality has elevated it to the rank of Premier Grand Cru since the 2011 vintage. It is surrounded by the attentive care of distinguished winegrowers-laborers, crowned during several successive Winegrowers' Festivals. Read more

Following the conquest of the Pays de Vaud by the Bernese in 1536, the Château de Chardonne passed into the hands of the Bernese bailiff Abraham Sturler. At the beginning of the 17th century, the Sturler family developed the Château de Chardonne estate. On May 30, 1933, the vineyard was sold to Emile Obrist. The castle became a property with around ten private apartments.
The Château de Chardonne vineyard covers 1.7 hectares of terraced vines, composed exclusively of Chasselas. Its quality, consistency and ageing capacity have elevated this wine to the top of the range in 2011 of terroir to the rank of Premier Grand Cru. The winegrowers-laborers of the estate were crowned during the last three Winegrowers’ Festivals in 1977, 1999 and 2019.
