Pierre Amadieu « Le Pas de l'Aigle »
Red wine | Gigondas AOC
Wait until you see him spread his wings!
This Gigondas from old high-altitude vines is captivating, with its aromas of smoky and spicy accents, strawberry and raspberry, licorice and wild flowers. On the palate, notes of lavender and ripe berries are very closely framed by powerful tannins. A great red wine to keep for a few years, or to Decanter for a few hours, so that it takes off!

Shimmering ruby red color
A bouquet with smoky and spicy accents unfolds scents of cherry-cola, black raspberry and spicy flowers.
Expressive flavors of sweet red and black berries and spice cake are complemented by notes of lavender and smoky minerals. It shows a beautiful structure and spicy texture on a long, gently tannic finish which echoes the floral note.
Powerful dishes with sauce, truffle mousse
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C
Located at the foot of the rocky peaks of the place called "Le Pas de l'Aigle", this special vintage of 60-year-old Grenache perfectly represents the unique terroir of Gigondas: the blue marls of Gargasien. These poor soils, among the highest in the appellation, offer exceptional concentration and complexity. Thanks to its northwest exposure and its high altitude (400m), the wine acquires a pleasant freshness and astonishing finesse.
Patience and time are the companions of this exceptional vintage: a meticulous manual harvest at full maturity, partially destemmed, followed by a 30-day vatting period with delestages for a subtle and powerful extraction. After aging in barrels for 24 months, the noble Rhone grape varieties reveal their complex aromas with subtlety. Before being marketed, the wine rests in bottles for at least a year.

Pierre Amadieu
Pierre Amadieu was a pioneer in 1929 when he marketed his Gigondas wines. The years passed and the estate grew, becoming the largest private vineyard in the appellation. Many family members take care of their heritage, now certified organic. In Gigondas, the house's precious high-altitude vines produce remarkably balanced wines.
