Le Petit Cheval 2011

Red wine | 2nd wine of Château Cheval Blanc, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AC

The 2011 vintage benefited from a climate that was particularly conducive to the production of a great wine. The Petit Cheval 2011 is thus a superb grand cru, very classic, which approaches the first wine in its precision and clarity.

Intense color. Fine, fresh and very pure nose. Amazing palate, rigorously built, tasty, very pure in its fruitiness and its tannic definition, with fat and a woody presence on the finish to melt during aging. Very good length. Very beautiful fine wine. This is the fourth consecutive vintage that Petit Cheval has placed itself at the top of the range. Blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Cabernet Franc.

A wine with pretty balance of fruit and spices, with berry, hazelnut and cocoa. Full to medium body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Second wine of Cheval.

Polished, offering good mouthfeel to the layers of fig sauce, crushed plum and licorice. Judicious toast frames the finish, with a hint of charcoal adding length. A little lighter than when tasted from barrel, but still balanced and refined without trying too hard. Drink now through 2020. - James Molesworth.

Beautiful balance, continuous slender appearance. Full entry in the mouth, spherical, even grainy texture. Mid-palate revealing perfectly integrated woodiness, intense, fresh and very long finish.

Château Cheval Blanc

Château Cheval Blanc

The history of the estate began in the 4th century, at the time of the Roman Empire. Then, the vineyard developed strongly in the Middle Ages. Château Cheval Blanc occupies a special position in the “Saint-Émilion” appellation, because it is located on the Quaternary alluvium of the Isle and enjoys a unique terroir (Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grape varieties).
