Gigondas Domaine Grand Romane
Red wine | Gigondas AOC
A Gigondas from old high-altitude vines
The plots from which this red blend is produced are among the highest in the Gigondas appellation. The altitude, associated with the age of the vines, produces concentrated, distinguished grapes with a very particular finesse. Blackcurrant and raspberry mingle with Mediterranean herbs, and the power melts into a silky finish.

This wine is made from a fusion of old Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah vines, ensuring complex aromas, captivating power and remarkable distinction. Peppery spices intertwine with candied black fruits. The terroir is fully expressed by silky tannins, notes of garrigue and black olive. The generous and velvety structure reveals authentic finesse and promising aging potential.
Manual harvesting is essential to meticulously select the best clusters, which often ripen later than the rest of the vineyard. Grenache and Syrah undergo traditional vatting, while Mourvèdre benefits from whole grain maceration to develop its capricious and generous character. After blending, the wine is aged for 18 months in barrels (45% old barrels and 15% new) as well as in tuns (40%) to soften and harmonize the powerful tannins. It is then bottled without filtration.
