Nose

Superb aromatic palette of black cherry, elderberry and violet, supported by pronounced scents of the terroir.

Palate

A wine of character, strongly structured and tannic, full-bodied and very concentrated.

Wine-growing region

South-east of Montalcino in Castelnuovo dell'Abate in Tuscany, the vines draw their sap from a terroir with marly soils.

Winemaking

Aging for 24 to 36 months in French and Slavonic oak barrels, maturation for 6 months in bottles.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The Uccelliera 2017 Brunello di Montalcino does a great job showcasing that extra power and brawn of the vintage and the richer textural structure of the southern side of the appellation. The bouquet is up front and beautifully measured with lots of red and purple fruit definition followed by spice, tar and earthiness. What sets this wine apart in this hot and dry vintage is the mouthfeel. It delivers fiber, flesh and soft tannins. -Monica Larner

Azienda Uccelliera, founded in 1986 by Andrea Cortonesi, a passionate winemaker, in Castelnuovo dell'Abate near Montalcino, embodies a deep passion for nature and tradition. Initially removed from the wine world, Andrea transformed this property into a thriving estate, today producing exceptional Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino.
