Tignanello 2020
Red wine | Marchesi Antinori, Toscana IGT
Tignanello, produced only in the best vintages since 1971, is an emblematic wine of Italian oenology. The first Sangiovese aged in barrels and to integrate non-traditional grape varieties, it comes from the vineyards of Tenuta Tignanello, on limestone soils at 350-400 m above sea level. Its bright ruby red color precedes a complex nose of red/black berries, sweet spices, leather, and tobacco. On the palate, it is enveloping, fluid, and fresh, with great lightness.

Deep red with purple highlights.
Aromas of black fruits (blackcurrant) supported by notes of spices.
Beautiful structure, with silky and enveloping tannins. We detect aromas of black fruits and spices.
The Tignanello vineyard covers 57 hectares on hills at 350-400 meters above sea level. The soils, rich in limestone and marl, bring great minerality and finesse to the wines. The vines, about 20 years old, are cultivated with environmentally friendly practices and benefit from ideal exposure, thus optimizing the quality of the grapes and the wine.
The grapes are harvested by hand at their optimum maturity, then carefully sorted before vinification in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. The alcoholic fermentation is followed by a 15-day maceration to extract the tannins and aromas. Then, after malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barrels, some of which are new barrels, to refine its structure and complexity.
