Castelrotto holds a special place in Ticino, where Merlot has become a speciality. The estate has been cultivating this grape variety for over a hundred years! This know-how is evident in this red wine, with aromas of blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry, underlined by fine notes of sweet spices, tobacco and cocoa. Seductive, round and fresh, it is supported by well presented tannins. An elegant wine to be enjoyed with typical dishes such as polenta and rabbit or risotto with porcini mushrooms!

Colour

Intense ruby with purple reflections.

Beautiful aromatic range of ripe fruits such as blackcurrant, marasque and blackberry with fine notes of tobacco and cocoa.

Palate

Attractive and fresh, round and soft, supported by very present tannins. A wine of great elegance which, over the years, will refine and gain in complexity. Harmonious and fruity finish, round and balanced.

Wine-growing region

On the hillsides of Lake Lugano, this picturesque vineyard draws its strength from a terroir made up of limestone and clay.

Winemaking

Traditional according to the Bordeaux method, prolonged maceration, aging in oak barrels.
