This 2019 vintage of Solaia presents a very complex profile, of black licorice and tobacco, cherries, blackberries and plums, or even chocolate and chili! Already magnificent in drinkability, it will improve over the coming decades... if you can wait! This legendary vintage is part of the ''Supertoscans'', great red wines for aging, made from Bordeaux grape varieties, which have found a new way of expressing themselves on the Tuscan coast. Solaia includes Sangiovese, thus keeping a true Italian soul!

Colour

Intense ruby red with purplish reflections.

Nose

Aromas of ripe red fruits of pleasant freshness, accompanied by balsamic notes, liquorice and mint. End of mouth marked by light touches of vanilla and smoke blending into spicy notes.

Palate

Pleasant attack, pronounced body, compact tannic structure, extremely complex finish with dominant notes of black fruits and chocolate, excellent palatability.

Wine-growing terroir

Solaia is a Tenuta Tignanello vineyard of approximately 20 ha, facing southwest, at an altitude between 350 and 400 m. The rocky and limestone lands have a high content of Albarese rocks. Marchesi Antinori produced this vintage for the first time with the 1978 vintage. Solaia is only vinified in very good vintages.

Winemaking

Fermentation and maceration in 60 hl conical containers. Then, malolactic fermentation in barrels favoring the finesse of this vintage. Aging in new French oak barrels for approximately 18 months. During this period, the different components, vinified separately according to their characteristics and varieties, reach their highest level of expression. The blending is carried out a few months before bottling.

Marchesi Antinori

For 600 years the Florentine Marchesi Antinori have dedicated themselves to viticulture, winemaking and the wine trade. Today, Marchese Piero Antinori runs the company, as a representative of the 26th generation, with his three daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia. He is considered the inventor of the “Supertoscans”.
