Aromas of violet, black cherry, plum and licorice with a hint of vanilla.

Palate

With flavors of red berries, blackberries and plum. Beautiful acidity on the palate and soft tannins.

Wine-growing terroir

The vineyards of Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande extend over 73 hectares of beautiful gravelly land, to the south of the town of Pauillac.

Winemaking

Alcoholic fermentation for 15 days at controlled temperature, aging in French oak barrels including 80% new wood with racking every 3 months.

Composed of 53% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the deep garnet-purple colored 2018 Reserve de la Comtesse springs from the glass with vibrant scents of ripe blackcurrants, black raspberries and baked plums, more suggestions of pencil lead, cedar chest, ground cloves and lilacs. Medium-bodied, the palate is elegantly crafted with fine-grained tannins and lovely freshness nicely framing the delicate fruit, finishing earthy. -Lisa Perrotti-Brown

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is located in the south of the Pauillac appellation. Virginie, one of the daughters of Baron Joseph Pichon de Longueville, married a man called de Lalande, hence the name Comtesse de Lalande. The estate now has 87 hectares, including 76 located in the Pauillac appellation and 11 in the Saint-Julien appellation.
