M...de Martial
White wine | Condrieu AOC
Nugget on legendary terroir
Martial is Hervé's father, at the head of the Richard estate. And he had great flair in the 1970s when he rehabilitated a steep vineyard on the Verlieux hillside. Today, its old Viognier vines produce a voluptuous, spicy, hedonic wine... A grand cru from the fabulous Condrieu terroir! Thank you Martial!

Old vines 50 years old on a sandy-granitic terroir, south-facing hillside, in the town of Verlieux. 3.1 ha of Condrieu (Viognier grape variety) in St Michel sur Rhône and Chavanay. 9000 plants/ha. A vineyard on hillsides that is very poorly mechanized and very difficult to exploit but which allows them to obtain excellent wines. The Richard estate has improved its techniques to be more respectful of the environment. They obtained HVE level 3 certification because of their commitment to biodiversity, fertilization management and water preservation. They emphasize green work to produce a quality harvest. They also opted for tillage to replace chemical weeding.
Pneumatic pressing of the entire harvest. Fermentation in barrels of 1 to 3 wines. Aging for 12 months in barrels.
