L'Esprit is the great red wine of Château Pennautier. The unique terroir of Cabardès, rocky, mountainous, sunny and crossed by the winds, offers here a wine with amplitude and beautiful freshness. The intense, deep color foreshadows a complex, powerful wine, with notes of prune and cherry, leather and bourbon vanilla too, signs of high quality aging in new wood. Colour

Intense almost black with orange highlights.

Nose

Powerful with aromas of prune and cherry and notes of cocoa, roasting and well-melted wood.

Palate

Rich and ample, fine and dense tannins.

Wine-growing terroir

On the sunny and rocky slopes to the south of the Montagne Noire, the vines, exposed to the south, benefit from the coolness during the hot summers and thus maintain good acidity and exceptional aromatic quality. This wine comes from the highest plots of the estate and the finest plot selections on very stony limestone soils.

Winemaking

Fermentation and maceration for 35 days, malolactic fermentation in new barrels, aging for 18 months in new French oak barrels.

An independent family house created in 1620, Maison Lorgeril owns wine estates in the south of France between the Rhône and the Pyrenees. Since 1987, Nicolas de Lorgeril, representative of the 10th generation of this family of winegrowers, and his wife Miren de Lorgeril have brilliantly managed the vast family vineyard.
