Inglenook "Rubicon"
Red wine | Rutherford, Napa Valley, California
The star red wine from the Inglenook estate enchants with its intense aromas of black cherry and red currants, dried rose petals, chili pepper, almond and graphite. This wine shows true refinement, especially at this age! It takes its name from the river crossed by Julius Caesar, expressing his intention to take control of Rome. Over time, the expression "crossing the Rubicon" came to mean any irreversible action with revolutionary aims. Audacity paid off for Jules, and for Inglenook!

91 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Rubicon shows quite a bit of depth and roundness in the year, no doubt owing to the fairly significant presence of Petit Verdot in the final blend. Dark berries, smoke, incense, licorice and tobacco flesh out in this attractive, medium-bodied wine. The 2011 Rubicon clearly has room to grow from here. This is a terrific first effort from winemaker Philippe Bascaules. The 2011 is 91% Cabernet Sauvignon and 9% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.
