Domaine de Chevalier 2020
Red wine | Cru Classé de Graves Pessac-Léognan AC
More than a Château, an Estate!
Deep and aromatic red wine, with lots of personality, promising great evolution. But why ''Domaine'', rather than ''Château''? Unusual in Bordeaux, this term refers to a time when people lived on a large estate, between outbuildings, woods, and varied agricultural land. Today it still signals a global vision, which goes beyond the vineyard, but which is at its service!

97 100Lisa Perotti-BrownMedium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2020 Domaine de Chevalier comes skipping out of the glass with energetic scents of ripe red and black currants, fresh blackberries and boysenberries, plus nuances of wild sage, cloves and cedar with a waft of lavender. The medium to full-bodied palate surprises and delights with an unexpected richness and depth that remains locked away on the nose, revealing layers of fragrant earth and floral notions framed by fantastic freshness and firm, finely grained tannins, finishing with the most gorgeous, long -lingering perfume.

97 100Markus Del MonegoDark Purple color with violet hue and black core. Exquisite and powerful nose, aroma reminiscent of blackcurrant, sweet elderberries, boysenberries, hints of vanilla and freshly ground Vietnamese pepper, dark chocolate and elegant toasting touches. On the palate great elegance and precision, pleasant freshness, silky tannins and discreet toasting flavor, backed by juicy berries and ripe plums, mild spices and a hint of pepper. Another great vintage at Domaine de Chevalier.

95 100Yves BeckComplex bouquet, with many facets. It perfectly combines aging and fruity freshness. Shades of caramel, cherries and plums. Elegant, delicious and refreshing attack. The palate is fresh, balanced and endowed with fine but muscular and lively tannins, in phase with the acid structure. An authentic, distinguished wine with excellent aging potential. Saline finish with bitters ideally supporting the fruity persistence. 2027-2050.
Dark purple, with purplish reflections.
Aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry evolving towards notes of licorice and a touch of cinnamon.
It shows itself with fat, body and fine-grained, slightly suave tannins which open up at the end of the palate. Finish of beautiful aromatic intensity.
The Chevalier terroir, with its poor and complex soils, owes its characteristics to the forest that surrounds it. This environment creates a greenhouse effect during hot periods, favoring the ripening of the grapes and increases the risk of frost during cold periods.
Gentle fermentation at controlled temperature, maceration for 15 to 25 days, malolactic fermentation in new barrels, aging for 14 to 24 months in oak barrels including 40 to 60% new wood.
