Domaine de Chevalier 2019
Red wine | Cru Classé de Graves Pessac-Léognan AC
More than a Château, an Estate!
Deep and aromatic red wine, with lots of personality, promising great evolution. But why ''Domaine'', rather than ''Château''? Unusual in Bordeaux, this term refers to a time when people lived on a large estate, between outbuildings, woods, and varied agricultural land. Today it still signals a global vision, which goes beyond the vineyard, but which is at its service!

96 100James SucklingThe chocolate, walnut, dark-fruit and stone character is attractive. It's full-bodied and very tight and linear with chewy yet polished tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Lots of intensity and complexity here, as always.

95 100Yves BeckPurplish purple. Such finesse and complexity in this bouquet! Between the spices, floral notes and scents of black berries, there's plenty to do! The same on the palate with a delicious and juicy attack. The wine has body thanks to the breadth of its tannins, which are also fine, while the structure gives spirit to the entire palate. The result is a wine that combines charm, power and freshness. What a great success! 2025-2044.

94 100Jean-Marc QuarinDark, intense, purple color, with black reflections. Very aromatic, fine, pure nose, with ripe and subtle fruitiness. Meticulous in its texture from the entry into the mouth, very fragrant in the middle, tasty, with body and a tender nuance, the wine finishes very pleasant, on a normal length and without angle. Blend: 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 13°. Yield: 45 hl/ha. 2025 – 2042.
Dark purple, with purplish reflections.
Aromas of blackcurrant and raspberry evolving towards notes of licorice and a touch of cinnamon.
It shows itself with fat, body and fine-grained, slightly suave tannins which open up at the end of the palate. Finish of beautiful aromatic intensity.
The Chevalier terroir, with its poor and complex soils, owes its characteristics to the forest that surrounds it. This environment creates a greenhouse effect during hot periods, favoring the ripening of the grapes and increases the risk of frost during cold periods.
Gentle fermentation at controlled temperature, maceration for 15 to 25 days, malolactic fermentation in new barrels, aging for 14 to 24 months in oak barrels including 40 to 60% new wood.
