The von Neipperg family says it is accessible from its seventh year, but it will be refined over decades more!

Magnificent bouquet with aromas of mint and raspberry, accompanied by a touch of smoke and notes of chalk.

Palate

Tasty and creamy entry in the mouth, with a beautiful juicy and fruity structure, with fine and elegant tannins and a beautiful balance, long and harmonious finish.

Wine-growing terroir

The Clos de l'Oratoire vineyard is located on the northeast slope of Saint-Émilion. Its Fronsac molasse terroir, with an area of 10.32 hectares, is made up of a sandy subsoil and a clay subsoil.

Winemaking

Manual harvest, extraction by pneumatic punching down, vinification for 30 days in wooden vats, aging on fine lees for 15 months in barrels including 50% new wood, no fining.

James Suckling The Clos de l'Oratoire was harvested from the 21st of September to the 4th of October, with 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc in the blend with 13.5% alcohol. After 30 days of maceration, it was aged in 45% new barrels. The Clos de l'Oratoire is dense and firm, chalky and deep, with excellent transparency and spiciness, very structured and long. The fruit was somewhat closed on a rainy day at my only en primeur tasting.

Clos de l'Oratoire

Located on the north-eastern hillside of Saint-Émilion, the Clos de l'Oratoire vineyard extends over 13 ha. Its molasse terroir of Fronsac, composed of a sandy underlayer and a clayey subsoil, is particularly well suited to Merlot, present at 80% of the vineyard's grape varieties.
