99 100Yves BeckDense purple. Superb bouquet, marked by its terroir and the dominant grape variety, Cabernet Sauvignon. There is a healthy mix of maturity and freshness, fullness and finesse. Scents of blueberries and raspberries, followed by a classic touch of graphite and licorice wood. Delicious and creamy attack. From the outset, the wine positions itself; it appears conquering and serene, thanks to the power of its tannins which are in phase with the character of the structure. What precision and finesse of grain in these tannins which are pleasantly smooth. We have the scale of 2016, the charm of 2009 and, modern mathematical challenge, that makes it 2019! Very beautiful notion of quiet strength, of the ability to display one's power with elegance and serenity. A charming, authentic and persistent Montrose. 2027-2059.

98 100DecanterOh this is good, it steals up on you with real depth of flavor, stately and concentrated in a way that reminds me of a 1996 or a 2016. Extremely measured, very clear that this is going to age effortlessly, it is extremely discreet and yet packed with persistent flavors. A masterclass in the flavors and aromatics that you expect in a great Médoc wine - slate, crushed stones, savory blackcurrant, liquorice, hints of smoke and cold ash. After five minutes in the glass the sweeter berry fruit comes out, and the whole thing is sappy and mouthwatering, and makes you smile. 12% press wine, 3.77pH. A yield of 47hl/ha. 60% new oak. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend.

97 100Jean-Marc QuarinDark, intense and purple color. Large, complex and deep nose, with a truffle background, touches of tar, licorice and black fruits. Dense from the attack and ultra refined in its texture in the mid-palate, with a melting body and a great richness of flavors, this wine never leaves the palate before continuing to melt in the finish, fatty, long, sappy, complex, with fresh notes of great Cabernet Sauvignon. Blend: 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, 1% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 14°4 – pH: 3.67. IPT: 72. Yield: 44 hl/ha versus 57 for the appellation. Production: 36% first wine.
Magnificent purple red with purplish reflections.
Intense aromas of morello cherry, blueberries, plum and coffee bean, followed by a touch of mint and mineral notes
Well-structured, powerful, tight grainy tannins, aromatic and persistent finish.
Château Montrose is located in the heart of the town of Saint-Estèphe. The vineyard, 95 ha in one piece, which is extremely rare in Médoc, was planted on a very well exposed gravelly ridge on the banks of the Gironde; it therefore overlooks the estuary. The soils are composed of gravel, black sand and the subsoils of marl-clay.
Vatting for 20 to 25 days in thermoregulated stainless steel vats, aging for approximately 22 months in oak barrels, 60% of which is new wood.
