Novembre 2023.

94 100Wine EnthusiastThis wine has density and some firm tannins. A spectacular vineyard that faces the Gironde estuary, this estate gives a rich wine that needs some serious aging. Drink this wine, with its black-currant fruits and solid tannins from 2027. Roger Voss. January 2024.

92 100DecanterGorgeous floral aromatics, this is crisp with the most delicious blackcurrant and black cherry and strawberry fruit flavour - really so well executed. Lively and bright, clean and clear. Succulent and juicy, lovely frame and texture overall. A wonderful easy to drink wine, with elegance refinement but still that concentration that drives the flavours from start to finish. A top buy for classic clart, refreshing, minty, deep, layered and so charming. Drinking window: 2024-2040. Georgina Hindle. April 2022.

91 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateOffering up aromas of cassis, blackberries, spices and creamy new oak, the 2021 Meyney is medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with lively acids, powdery tannins and an impressively rich, textural profile for the vintage. It's a blend of 54% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 12% Petit Verdot. 89-91/100. William Kelley. April 2022. With 50 hectares under vine, Meyney occupies a ridge of gravel, some six to eight meters deep, over blue clay, next to Montrose and opposite Tronquoy-Lalande. Planted at 7,600 vines per hectare, vineyards have been well maintained over the years, but recent replanting has replaced Merlot on prime gravels with Cabernet Sauvignon. Petit Verdot has long played an important role here (unusual for the northern Médoc), with the oldest vines dating back to 1928, and the estate has its own massale selection of this variety. Vinification is generally rather classic, though some 15% of the grand vin sees malolactic fermentation in barrel. Formerly a rather firm, chewy but characterful wine during the Cordier era, contemporary Meyney is suppler and fleshier out of the gates and doesn't require such extended patience before becoming approachable. The 2021 vintage marks the first year of organic conversion.

A deep crimson, with purplish highlights.
Aromas of blackcurrant and blackberry, enveloped in spicy notes and a hint of new wood.
A juicy vintage with a mellow body, developing fruity and fragrant notes. A lovely, pleasantly long and harmonious finish.
The 51-ha vineyard, planted in a single block, is planted on siliceous gravel soils, on subsoil with a vein of blue clay. Its proximity to the river protects it from frost. The fairly steep slope facilitates natural drainage of the land. The vines, which are 35 to 40 years old on average, are divided between Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
Hand-picked harvest, sorting in the vineyard and on arrival at the cellar. Fermentation and vatting in batches in thermoregulated stainless steel and concrete vats. Aging for 18 months in oak barrels (40% new wood).
