Wine-growing terroir

Cultivation practices are traditional and sustainable, with a strong focus on balance and the well-being of the soil, plants and beneficial fauna. 15 hectares in the Margaux AOC. Terroir: 40% siliceous gravel, 40% siliceous marl and 20% clay-limestone. Average age of the vineyard: 40 years.

Winemaking

Vinification in 80 hl truncated wooden vats and 80 hl truncated stainless steel vats. Malolactic fermentation in barrels at 65%. Aged in barrels for 16 months (65% new wood).

Yves Beck Fresh and fruity, inviting bouquet with nuances of eucalyptus and red berries followed by a touch of aging. The wine is delicious and has silky tannins. Gourmet in character, it is balanced and well supported by its structure. A charming and sapid wine. 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc. 2026-2038. 91-93/100.

Decanter A deep, rich, opulent nose giving that Margaux glamour straight out the gate. Heady, perfumed purple flowers on the nose. The aromas are really beguiling, you get the ripe Cabernet fruit which was such a success in 2021 - the green pepper, black pepper, blueberries and eucalyptus with hints from the Merlot - sharp, sweet and sour strawberries and red cherries with herbal notes of liquorice and cedar. It's certainly fresh and you get a clarity on the palate, it's not massively structured per se but offering lovely balance, freshness and precision of all the elements. There's a vibrancy to this and a nice mouthfeel of gentle but grippy tannins - they're fine but filling. Fruit and oak are well balanced with such persistence of gentle flavour. Lovely refinement and class with a lifted minty finish. I love it. 3% Cabernet Sauvignon completes the blend. 3.80pH. They lost around 25% of the yield in 2021, bringing in 32hL/ha compared to the usual 40-45hL/ha. Drinking window 2026 - 2040. Georgina Hindle.

Alexandre Ma Marquis d’Alesme 2021 presents a more delicate image, with a natural, smooth palate and intricate, soft tannins. Although it does not have stunningly complex fruitiness, its approachable nature should still appeal to many fans who are values elegance. If the tannins become silkier on the finish, it will be even better.

Jean-Marc Quarin ncroyable couleur sombre, pourpre et belle. Nez intense, fin, au fruité mûr. Ensemble subtil. Délicat dès l'entrée en bouche, avec de la classe dans le toucher, le vin fond au palais, à la fois savoureux et très bien accompagné par le bois neuf. Uni dans sa construction, il s'achève assez long, sur une tannicité enrobée. C'est très bo !
