92 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateTasted at BI Wine & Spirits' 10-Years-On tasting, the 2007 Chateau Margaux was just missing a little intensity on the nose compared to the other First Growths: scents of incense and iris, blackberry and tobacco, perhaps just missing the floral nature of other vintages. The palate is well balanced with supple black fruit laced with graphite and tobacco, fully matured but clearly with sufficient substance to last another 15-20 years. It is a capable Château Margaux, although frankly it does not put enough distance between itself and its Margaux peers, yapping at its heels.
Gorgeous purplish purple.
Fine, fruity, very aromatic. Aromas of blackberry, cherry and peppermint.
Velvety, tasty and noble. The wine has body, but the tannins are incredibly fine. Very nice length.
Surprising with cod or Chinese cuisine, red meats, roast poultry, goat cheese.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C
The vines, inclined on a gentle slope in a sort of amphitheater, are established on a gravelly and clayey ridge of fluvial origin (abundant gravel at the top, the bottom of the ridge being composed of limestone and finer elements due to runoff) .
Vatting for 3 weeks in oak vases, aging for 18 to 24 months in new oak barrels.
