Château Lynch-Bages 2017

Red wine | 5th Cru Classé, Pauillac AC

Bold and innovative, known for often being the last to harvest, Jean-Charles Cazes defined the style of Lynch-Bages in the 1930s. The racy and typical character of the wine places it in the line of the great Pauillacs.

This is an excellent Lynch that starts off slowly and then drives at the end with dark fruit and hints of hazelnuts. Strong and focused tannins. A beautiful young wine.

Dark, intense and beautiful color. Intense, fruity nose, accompanied by a beautiful smell of black fruits, crème fraîche and blackcurrant. Fleshy on the attack, juicy, very fruity, the wine develops tasty and fatty. It takes off between the middle and the finish and it finishes long, with brightness in the taste. Very well coated tannicity. Blend: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Alcohol content: 13°06, pH: 3.75, IPT: 73.

They've had their foot on the extraction pedal here, but the extremely dark fruit has great finesse. It is broad-shouldered and savory-edged, and each time I tasted this wine it seemed a little richer and more complete, over-delivering for the year. This is going to age extremely well. 2% Petit Verdot makes up the blend. 75% new oak. Drinking Window 2025 - 2038
