94 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateUnfurling in the glass with aromas of dark cherries and berries mingled with notions of licorice, black truffle, rose petal and iris, the 2021 L'Evangile is medium to full-bodied, fleshy and enveloping, with a broad and textural attack that segues into a charming, succulent mid-palate framed by sweet, powdery tannins. This saw only two rackings, and some 15% matured in amphora, with the rest in barriques that are less toasty than in the past; the result of these and other initiatives is a much more timeless expression of this property. Bottled in May 2023. Drinking window: 2027 - 2045. William Kelley. February 2024.

Dark, with purple highlights.
Superb bouquet marked by spices and small black fruits. Beautiful aromatic freshness.
A surprising, finely chiselled floral attack, quickly developing into a remarkable density, supported by a silky tannic structure, offering harmony in keeping with a refined, stylish wine.
Meat and game terrines, roast duck breast with blueberries, couscous royal, goulash, rack of lamb with herbs, saddle of venison, mocha sabayon with whipped cream and vanilla.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18 ° C
To the south-east of the Pomerol plateau, a curious accident brings to the surface a long line of gravel. Three vineyards, including the Gospel, share this rare land. The estate, with an area of 16 hectares, draws its sap from sandy-clayey soil with pure gravel and a subsoil full of iron dross.
Fermentation in vats and controlled maceration, aging for 18 months in oak barrels, 70% of which is new wood.

Château l'Evangile
Located on rare earth to the south-east of the Pomerol plateau and forming a long stretch of gravel, Château L'Evangile was acquired in 1990 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite). The 22 ha vineyard is planted with the two grape varieties Merlot (80%) and Cabernet Franc (20%) grown organically since 2018.
