Tasted on April 14, 2021 by Yves Beck 85.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.5% Merlot So much definition and precision in this bouquet which is distinguished by inviting nuances of blackberries, blackcurrant and licorice. Classic cedar shades. On the palate the wine has density, elegance and creaminess. What class, what freshness and what power. A very large Barton ready for a few decades. He reveals himself subtly but is endowed with a formidable power that he only reveals cautiously! 2027-2055 (96-98/100)

A full-bodied red that builds on the palate with lots of blackberry and blueberry character, as well as chocolate. Mineral and graphite undertones. Chewy, yet very integrated. Excellent, as expected. (96-97/100)

Dark, intense and purple color. Intense, fine, fruity, subtle and pure nose. Delicate on the palate and endowed with a meticulous texture, refined to the touch, a bit discreet in the middle, the wine finishes with a normal length, with elegant tannicity. Blend: 85.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 14.5% Merlot. Alcohol content: 13°6. Yield: 34 hl/ha.

Packed full of black chocolate shavings, liquorice, cocoa bean, concentrated blackcurrant and bilberry fruits. Good quality, will bed down and age extremely well, with depth and character but also classicism. As with many in this corner of the Médoc peninsula in this vintage, the austerity to the tannins is very much to the fore right now. May be upscored when in bottle.
