"Deep garnet colored, the 2009 Latour is unashamedly youthful with bold blackcurrants, black cherries and warm plums notes plus nuances of cedar chest, aniseed, beef drippings, truffles and tapenade with a waft of tilled black soil. Full, concentrated and powerful in the mouth, it has a rock-solid frame of super ripe, grainy tannins and fantastic freshness, finishing very long and wonderfully minerally. Just a baby--this needs time!"

Colour

Dark red, almost black, intense.

Nose

Powerful and distinguished with aromas of black fruits such as blackcurrant and redcurrant, supported by some notes of chocolate.

Palate

Racy, very powerful and very nervous with a characteristic expression of Cabernet.

Wine-growing terroir

Located in the Médoc, the Château Latour vineyard begins in Pauillac. It extends over a ridge of gravel, dominating the lowlands of Palus and Gironde. The soils are made up of large old gravel on the surface and clay at depth. This happy combination gives the terroir a uniqueness that few sites can boast of.

Winemaking

Fermentation in stainless steel vats, malolactic fermentation for 3 weeks in closed vats, aging for 18 months in oak barrels with racking every three months.

Château Latour

The tower on the Château Latour label was founded in 1331 by Gaucelme de Castillon during the Hundred Years' War. Three centuries later, the wine estate was acquired by the Marquis Nicolas-Alexandre de Calon-Ségur. Today, the property has 47 hectares of vines, located on a gentle slope.
