Wine-growing terroir

The Château's 20-hectare vineyard overlooks the Gironde, a gravelly terroir on clay subsoil.

Winemaking

Hand-picked grapes, destemming, optical sorting table, maceration and alcoholic fermentation in temperature-controlled wooden vats with regular pumping over. Aged for 18 months in French oak barrels (60% new wood).

Wine Enthusiast Decorated with a label celebrating 200 years of the Barton family in Bordeaux, the wine has touches of toast aromas with smokiness. On the palate, tannins give a dry core to the wine. It is ripe, but with a great freshness. Drink from 2028. Roger Voss.

Yves Beck Langoa Barton 2021 affiche une sérénité que j’ai rarement observé dans ce cru. Il s’affiche avec précision, finesse et enthousiasme. Son caractère linéaire et épanoui crée l’harmonie dans un contexte néanmoins bien soutenu par la structure tannique et par une acidité énergisante. Un cru qui célèbre, de surcroit, les 200 ans de la famille en tant que propriétaire ! Le vin en profite pour célébrer sa jeunesse et sa fraîcheur ! 2026-2041. Novembre 2023.

Jean-Marc Quarin Couleur sombre et profonde. Nez très fruité et subtil, aux nuances de fruits noirs. Caressant à l'attaque, très fruité en milieu de bouche, avec un bel éclat, le vin se développe savoureux et juteux et surtout tout en douceur, vers une belle longueur. Il est probable que le nouveau cuvier et ses petites cuves ait permis d'ajuster aussi finement ce millésime. Assemblage : 61 % cabernet sauvignon, 36 % merlot, 3 % cabernet franc. Degré d'alcool : 13°. Rendement : 39 hl/ha. Dates de vendanges : du 27 septembre au 7 octobre. A consommer de préférence entre 2028 et 2045. Avril 2022.

Decanter An expressive nose full of dark fruit, spiced and herbal elements. Clean and clear, juicy and lively, more of a light, lean delicate take, everything is there just a subtle version of the blackcurrant and strawberries, acidity and tannin profile. I do like it though, it's well made and still has an enjoyable juicy core and long finish. Likely to be extremely pleasant and easy to drink in a few years still with typicity. Same score as Primeurs but this was lovely to taste again. Drinking window: 2026 - 2045. Georgina Hindle. December 2023.

Classified as a Third Growth in 1855, Château Langoa Barton is a leading estate of Saint-Julien on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Owned by the Barton family since 1821 and now in its ninth generation, the estate represents a rare continuity in Bordeaux.

The 25-hectare vineyard, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, thrives on gravel and clay soils. Aged in French oak barrels, the wines offer structure, elegance and outstanding ageing potential, true to the classic Saint-Julien style.
