Château Grand-Puy Ducasse 2022
Vin rouge | 5th Cru Classé, Pauillac AC
Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a unique vintage in the prestigious Pauillac appellation: its fragmented plots offer a mosaic of terroirs which make its vineyards one of the most representative of the diversity of the terroirs of the appellation and gives its wines their pedigree and elegance. What's more, it is the only wine whose château, vat room and cellars are located in the very heart of the village of Pauillac.

95 100Wine EnthusiastThis estate, whose chateau is in the main street of Pauillac, has produced a finely textured wine with rich tannins and a powerful structure. Its black-currant flavors are a fine layer of fruit and acidity. 94-96 Barrel sample. Roger Voss. February 2023.

94 100DecanterRipe and filling, the blackcurrant and black cherry fruit is ripe and fleshy, a nice chewy sensation on the palate as well as cool blue fruit and chalky, minty, liquorice laced edges with fresh mint and crushed stones which give the minerality and the sense of gravel. I like the powerful undertone here, this has structure and backbone and a real drive as well as a sense of stateliness. Quiet, less overtly lively than some, more strict but also more serious in a good way. Tasted twice. Drinking window: 2027 - 2049. Georgina Hindle. April 2023.

Bonne longueur. Avril 2023.

90 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2022 Grand-Puy-Ducasse exhibits aromas of cassis, tobacco leaf violets and new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied palate with a sweet core of fruit, ripe acids and chalky structuring tannins that assert themselves on the finish. This is a solid but somewhat rustic effort. Drinking window: 2027 - 2042. 90+/100. William Kelley. March 2025.

A beautiful deep, dark red.
Very aromatic with fresh, ripe fruit and vanilla notes.
A smooth first impression, developing a burst of flavours in on the palate, offering fine, well-integrated tannins, followed by a sappy and fleshy finish.
Platter of cold cuts and dried meat, game terrine, pasta, Café de Paris rib steak, Brasato, lamb chops, saddle of venison, soft cheeses.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18 °C
The Grand-Puy Ducasse plots benefit from terroirs typical of Pauillac, with siliceous gravel for Cabernet Sauvignon and more clayey gravel for Merlot.
After manual harvesting and sorting in the vineyard, the grapes are destemmed and placed in vats with a capacity adapted to each plot. Vinification is classic in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats. After blending, aging continues for 18 to 24 months in barrels (40% new wood each year).

Château Grand-Puy Ducasse
Classified as a Fifth Growth in 1855, Château Grand-Puy Ducasse is a leading estate of Pauillac on Bordeaux’s Left Bank. Founded in the 17th century, the property evolved over generations before joining CA Grands Crus in 2004, ushering in an ambitious modernisation.
The 40-hectare vineyard, planted mainly with Cabernet Sauvignon on Garonne gravel soils and complemented by Merlot, produces wines that combine structure, precision and aromatic complexity, with notable ageing capacity in the classic Pauillac style.
