99 100DecanterThis 2019 Figeac offers an irresistible bouquet offering a compelling and complex mix of plum and raspberry fruit, floral scents of iris and violet, mingling with liquorice, graphite and a grace note of menthol. A judicious touch of perfectly integrated new oak completes its multilayered aromatic profile. There is real density for the full-bodied, even fleshy, palate that is structured by a framework of precise, fine-grained tannins that leads to the airborne finish that is all the most remarkable in the context of such a sumptuous vintage. Here is a Figeac that is beautifully expressive of its terroir with cellaring potential for up to thirty to forty years. -Yohan Casaing

98 100Yves BeckPurplish purple. Lots of freshness in the bouquet of this wine where the floral notes particularly stand out. Beautiful symbiosis between notes of cherries, blueberries and peonies. I also note a mineral character with graphite. The attack is slightly creamy and fruity. The tannins are compact, with fine grains. They gain in amplitude along the palate to reach maximum expression at the end of the palate and subtly imbue the wine with their power. The finish is well inspired by Cabernet and reveals aromas of graphite and eucalyptus, but also a racy touch which reminds us that this wine will take time. A wine that reveals itself with finesse, with delicacy but also with conviction and character. 2026-2049.

98 100Alexandre MaSince 2017, Figeac has not added sulfur during the fermentation process, and this pure, vacant, ethereal expression has finally shined in the vintage of 2019. <A rain of rose petals fall from the sky, bathing the whole orchard with fragrance>, this is the picture of nose I can feel in my glass… Cabernet Franc's elegant herbal notes create an upward sense of soaring on the palate; Cabernet Sauvignon's solid structure keeps the body firmly anchored in the earth, and Merlot builds specifics and details between the sky and the earth. When it finishes, a scent of mysterious compact graphite makes the entire tasting process climax and blooms layer by layer. Figeac 2019 will attract thousands of fans that would make the entire wine world jealous!

98 100James SucklingThis is a really beautiful red with crushed-berry, plum, bark, mushroom and earth character. It's full and creamy-textured with lots of tannins, but they are integrated and polished and flow across the palate. So much depth and intensity, yet there's underlying grace and class. Try after 2025.
Dark and intense ruby red.
Very aromatic, fruity, subtle, fragrant and delicate nose. Scents of violets, blueberries and blackcurrant.
Mouth with tactile grace. What finesse! Powerful, fine-grained tannins. Lingering finish.
Rabbit stew, roast quail, wild boar fillet, duck breast with figs, brie.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18°C
