Aromas of dark berries, spicy notes, gingerbread flavors, nuances of graphite and pencil.

Palate

Dense and ample, lively and delicious, powerful, with fine tannins, a perfect balance with the acidity structure. On the finish, perfectly balanced, fresh and with a beautiful aromatic expression.

Wine-growing terroir

The Ducru-Beaucaillou vineyard is planted on soils, essentially made up of gravel, marl and pebbles, offering natural drainage favorable to the cultivation of vines.

Decanter Evocative and moreish, a Ducru that beguiles and delights from the start with a scented nose full of cedar, rose, violets, cherries and damsons - a riot of Cabernet typicity. Vibrant and pulsing on the palate, this has grip and intention from the get-go. Massy, full and wide in the mouth - there’s density and this is broad but it’s delicate too - a sense of weightlessness with such movement and energy and a soft sweet, succulent grip throughout. Powerful with present tannins that unravel slowly so there’s time to appreciate the details as they come. A thoughtful and intellectual wine that leaves a smile on your face. Markus Del Monego Dark purple colour with violet hue and black core. A very sophisticated and well built wine. Expressive nose with great aromatic complexity, very elegant perfume reminiscent of crushed gravel, pencil shavings, fresh elderberries, blackcurrants, mulberries, hints of mild spices, gingerbread, very discreet oriental spices. On the palate excellent balance and aromatic depth, elegant and persistent with flavours of graphite, ripe juicy berries, hints of mint in the background. A wine with great freshness and excellent length, finesse and precision.

Yves Beck Such complexity and finesse in this bouquet! It reveals inviting nuances of dried herbs, dark berries and licorice wood. Elegant graphite shades. The palate immediately signals the power of the wine. Thus it displays a dense, ample character but also lively and even gourmand. A powerful Ducru which manages its vigor with serenity. The tannins display a fine grain and create symbiosis with the tension of the acidity which gives pep to the entire palate. In the end, the balance is perfect because the power of the tannins is channeled while the freshness of the acidity supports the aromatic expression until the finish. 2027-2060. 97-98/100. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2020 Ducru-Beaucaillou is a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, aging for approximately 18 months in 100% new barriques. It has a pH of 3.83, 13.5% alcohol and an IPT (total polyphenol index) of 90. Opaque purple-black colored, the nose slowly unfurls to reveal tantalizing scents of crushed blackcurrants, wild blueberries and boysenberries, leading to suggestions of chocolate mint, star anise, red roses and unsmoked cigars with a waft of cedar chest. The medium-bodied palate delivers impactful, muscular black fruits with a firm frame of ripe, fine-grained tannins and seamless freshness, finishing long and fragrant. Drinking window 2027 – 2052.
