Château Dassault 2018

Vin rouge | Grand Cru Classé, Saint-Émilion AC

Since Marcel Dassault acquired Château Couperie in 1955, which became Château Dassault, the estate has gone from strength to strength. With respect for the terroir and the people who know it for thousands of years, the aim is to sublimate its potential, with the humility imposed by the whims of nature. It's the right balance between tradition and progress that allows the wine to evolve without losing its spirit, until it reaches excellence.

Blackberries, dark cherries and blueberries with some earthy notes. Spice and cigar-box, too. Full-bodied with a savory texture and firm tannins. Clove and crushed-stone undertones. Clean, flavorful finish with length. Try after 2024.

    Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2018 Dassault sings of stewed plums, boysenberries and Black Forest cake, followed by hints of lilacs, star anise, fragrant earth and crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate has a rock-solid frame of grainy tannins and a lively backbone cutting through the densely packed, black fruit layers, finishing with a floral lift. The Wine Enthusiast
This is a classic, well-structured wine. Firm tannins currently mask ripe black-currant fruit and acidity that will shortly offer succulent richness. The wine will age well. Drink from 2026. Roger Voss
