Château Climens Premier Cru Classé 2013
Sweet wine | Barsac, Sauternes AC
Smooth and airy sweet white, Château Climens is a subtle wine that is unlike any other. If it expresses all the quintessence of the Barsac appellation through its balance and freshness, it also has the power and sumptuousness of the greatest Sauternes. Climens is perhaps defined above all by a brilliance, a depth, conferred by its unique terroir.

Belle perspective ! 2020-2060.

95 100Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Climens has a very fragrant bouquet with bunches of white flowers, buttercup, citrus fruits, honey and just a faint hint of oyster shell, all very well defined. There is a cold stone influence here that tempers its exuberance. The palate is very well balanced, spicy in the mouth, beautifully balanced with ginger and nutmeg infusing the honeyed fruit. This is a feisty Barsac, animated and energetic, a little "untamed" in its youth and very long. It is a great Climens that is going to age for many years. Tasted April 2016. Neal Martin.

Beautiful golden yellow.
Intense and complex with notes of coconut, butter, mirabelle plum and yellow fruit (apricot and peach), enveloped in a hint of mandarin.
Intense, fruity, smooth and elegant on the palate. Rich, with a structure and power that promise a bright future. Very long finish.
Pan-fried foie gras with apples, veal escalopes with Roquefort, filet mignon with Roquefort, blue cheese, pineapple carpaccio, caramelized pineapple, lost brioche.
The name Climens means “ungrateful land” in Frankish language! This was without counting on the vine, this prodigious plant capable of transforming despised soils into terroirs blessed by the gods. The 31 ha of vines are planted with 100% Sémillon, with an average age of 38 years. Strewn with pebbles, the red earth is made up of a thin layer of clayey sand, rich in iron, resting on a cracked limestone base which, combined with the steep exposure, promotes excellent natural drainage.
Manual harvest, carried out by experienced pickers, trained and supervised by Bérénice Lurton and her team. Fermentation with natural yeasts in small batches in French oak barrels (30 to 40% renewed each year). Aging for 20 to 22 months in barrels on fine lees (one third new wood).
