Chalky and fruity aromas, with scents of blackcurrant, cherry and nuances of chocolate.

Wine-growing region

The Château Faugères vineyard is located on the sunny slopes of the Dordogne valley, 6 kilometers east of Saint-Émilion, in one of the most beautiful wine-growing sites in Bordeaux. The 80 hectares of vines draw their sap from clay-limestone soil.

Winemaking

Cold pre-fermentation maceration in conical stainless steel vats, gentle vatting for three weeks, aging for 12 months in oak barrels.

Yves Beck Purplish purple. Fruity bouquet, with notes of cherries and plums. Spicy and chalky touch. Delicious and fruity attack. On the palate the wine has body and has fine-grained tannins. Good symbiosis with the acid structure which gives juice and tension. A wine of character with class, fruit and potential. 2023–2040

Decanter Displaying the polished edge that they do so well at Cap de Faugères, yet there is definitely an austerity through the mid palate. It is extremely closed down at present, suggesting that they are bedding in and structuring a wine that is aimed at medium or long term drinking. No doubt the muscular tannins will have softened within five to six years. It's a more subdued version of this wine than the 2015 vintage, but it has been deftly handled. Drinking Window 2020 - 2027
