Generally associated with the North-West of Spain, Albariño has also made itself at home on the other side of the Atlantic Ocean in the Garzón terroir in Uruguay. This is a very expressive white wine, with intense aromas of peach and grapefruit, highlighted by notes of wild flowers. Fresh, fine, crunchy on the palate, it reveals a delicious saline finish. Wine-growing terroir

Located 18 kilometers from the South Atlantic Ocean, the estate has more than a thousand small plots spread over countless hills. The vines benefit from varied microclimates and optimal exposure to the sun, thus producing rich and expressive fruit. The vineyards grow on rocky soils and are surrounded by lush forests, palm trees and large blocks of granite.

Wine Spectator Owned by international entrepreneur Alejandro Bulgheroni, Bodega Garzón spans almost 600 acres of vineyards in the hillsides of the Maldonado region of Uruguay. Planted 12 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, Garzon’s annual rainfall (40 inches) and average temperatures are reminiscent of maritime Galicia in Spain, Albariño’s native land of ocean mists and lush flora. Renowned consulting enologist Alberto Antonini oversees the winemaking. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and the wine ages three to six months on its lees, also in stainless steel. It’s refreshing, featuring citrus and saline qualities. 9,000 cases imported.
