Château Kirwan
The history of Kirwan has been shaped by filiations and transmissions since the 18th century, and begins with an alliance. The union, in 1760, of an Irish trader, Mark Kirwan, and the daughter of Sir John Collingwood, an English merchant who was among the first Bordeaux merchants. The year 1855 marked a decisive turning point in the life of the castle. Ranked first of the 3rd growths of Médoc, Kirwan changes hands and becomes the property of the Godard family, Camille Godard, then Mayor of Bordeaux. The white stones of the castle can be seen at the back of the park. Balance and harmony characterize this building placed between two ridges of vines reworked by Mark Kirwan at the end of the 18th century.
