Clos du Rocher
White wine | Yvorne Grand Cru, Chablais AOC
Chasselas: revealing great terroir!
1584: a section of the mountain falls on Yvorne. We mix up the numbers… 1854: foundation of Obrist. Coincidence? Le Clos du Rocher is today one of the star estates of the Vevey house! At the foot of the immense amphitheater created by the disaster, the vines produce wines with remarkable breadth, richness and minerality. This great white wine is delicious straight away, or in ten, twenty, thirty years without losing any of its class!

Yvorne, the largest wine-growing commune in Vaud, is distinguished by its terroir with gravelly and clay-limestone soil. In 1584 the landslide of a rock mass almost completely destroyed the village. This scree therefore constitutes its terroir, which gives Chasselas unique character traits. Le Clos du Rocher, an exceptional vineyard, is backed by rock and sheltered from cold winds. It benefits from a south-facing exposure.
Harvests at perfect maturity, traditional vinification, aging in wooden vases.

Clos du Rocher
Clos du Rocher was born in the 19th century, when vines and well-ordered walls replaced scrub and rock. The estate was acquired in 1918 by Emile Obrist, who immediately recognised the qualities of this terroir. He has proved it ever since, as this vineyard with its special aura has received praise from the profession, as much for its wines as for its winemakers!
