A breath of fresh air, whether on its own merits or simply by contrast with two preceding, more unyielding Listracs: this shines brightly. The nose is attractively floral, with plum, blackberry, and cassis evoking ripeness and charm. The palate follows suit with smooth, polished tannins, though they do gather themselves into a slightly steely grip on the finish: not surprising in this vintage. Still, a notably strong showing and one of the most convincing recent performances from Château Chasse-Spleen. A a wine that reminds you why the estate can be so compelling. Panos Kakaviatos.

Genussfenster 2030 - 2050. Adrian van Velsen. April 2026.

Château Chasse-Spleen

Château Chasse-Spleen

In the 19th century, the property under the name of Grand Poujeaux was divided and Madame Castaing became the owner. She renamed the area “Chasse-Spleen” in reference to the collection “Les Fleurs du Mal”. In 1976, the Château and its 103 ha wine estate were bought by the Merlaut family.
