Château Duhart-Milon 2022

The tension here comes from chalky tannins and lovely tobacco, herbs, cedar and cigar-box character. Currants and blue fruits. It's medium-bodied with lovely fruit and light-citrus bitterness. Firm and intense with an excellent finish. One of the best Duharts I have tasted. Try after 2028. January 2025.

Couleur noire et intense. Nez très aromatique, fin, fruité, subtil. Nuances profondes de fruits noirs. Ample à l'attaque, moelleux en milieu de bouche, parfumé, le vin prend de la puissance dans le dernier tiers du palais, où il s'achève sur un toucher fin, long, gras et très bon. 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot Que d’intensité dans ce bouquet marqué évidemment par le Cabernet Sauvignon et sa légendaire fraîcheur qu’il parvient même à souligner sur une année chaude ! Agréables nuances végétales mûres avec des notes d’eucalyptus, de menthe poivrée, de tabac et de baies rouges ainsi que des effluves terreux évoquant le vétiver. Dense et linéaire, le vin se déroule sans accrocs, jusqu’en finale. Il est crémeux, élégant et soutenu par des tannins dont la puissance est parfaitement canalisée. Ils se révèlent à partir du milieu de bouche, de manière précise et avec une redoutable efficacité tout en prenant soin de conférer de la fraîcheur. Un vin sapide et persistant que l’on pourra certainement apprécier jeune, mais qui dispose d’un exceptionnel potentiel de garde. 2028-2052. Décembre 2024.

The 2022 Duhart-Milon is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with aromas of mulberries, blackcurrants, pencil shavings and rose petal. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and textural, it's sweet and layered, with a gourmand core of fruit underpinned by powdery tannins and lively acids. A decade ago, Duhart could be a somewhat austere wine, but today it's much more integrated and harmonious. The 2022 is a blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon and 22% Merlot. Drinking window: 2027 - 2050.
