Er hat seidige, gut eingebundene und kraftvolle Tannine. Herrliche Symbiose zwischen Tanninen und Struktur. Letztere unterstützt die Frische und die Gaumenaromatik bis zum Abgang. Ein charaktervoller Wein mit grosser Zukunft. 2024-2046. November 2018.

Enticing aromas of crushed berries, blackcurrants, sweet tobacco, hot stones and licorice follow through to a full body, chewy and dusty tannins and a long, flavorful finish. A juicy and savory young 2016. Try after 2024. January 2019.

Streamlined and pared back to the essentials, this is an excellent Duhart that has the classic reserve of this wine but with a pure fruit quality. There is a beautiful balance between fruit and tannins, and a clear elegance, almost surprisingly soft for a wine known to be backwards when young. But the softness is deceptive because there is both concentration and richness, it's simply the 2016 sleight of hand. From a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot, to be aged in 50% new oak. Le meilleur jamais fait ! Couleur sombre, intense et jeune. Nez très aromatique et très médocain. Touche d’encre, sur un fond de fruits frais et mûrs. Délicieux de part en part, ce vin fond dans la bouche, avec de la classe dans le toucher et une finale au grain tannique raffiné et même parfumé. C’est long, très bon et le meilleur que je connaisse. The 2016 Duhart-Milon-Rothschild is a blend of 67% Cabernet Sauvignon and 33% Merlot picked between 26 September and 12 October with around 13.3% alcohol, slightly higher than in 2015 that suffered a little dilution. The bouquet is tightly wound with blackberry, cigar box and sous-bois aromas that gently unfold in the glass. This is classic, conservative Duhart-Milon. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, a crisp line of acidity, just a touch of black pepper enlivening the black fruit. Overall, this represents in some ways a return to the slightly more austere style of Duhart-Milon, yet there is perhaps now more approachability and certainly plenty of freshness. This bottling shows the vastly improved quality of this estate that still represents good value for the appellation and for its provenance as part of the Lafite-Rothschild stable. The wine is structured while full of ripe berry fruits. It has weight and density, rich with swathes of delicious fruits as well as tannins. It will develop well; drink from 2023. Roger Voss.
